Who’s Hiring in the Microsoft Data Platform Community? March 2023 Edition

Who's Hiring

Is your company hiring for a database position as of March 2023? Do you wanna work with the kinds of people who read this blog? Let’s set up some rapid networking here.

If your company is hiring, leave a comment. The rules:

  • Your comment must include the job title, and either a link to the full job description, or the text of it. It doesn’t have to be a SQL Server DBA job, but it does have to be related to databases. (We get a pretty broad readership here – it can be any database.)
  • An email address to send resumes, or a link to the application process – if I were you, I’d put an email address because you may want to know that applicants are readers here, because they might be more qualified than the applicants you regularly get.
  • Please state the location and include REMOTE and/or VISA when that sort of candidate is welcome. When remote work is not an option, include ONSITE.
  • Please only post if you personally are part of the hiring company—no recruiting firms or job boards. Only one post per company. If it isn’t a household name, please explain what your company does.
  • Commenters: please don’t reply to job posts to complain about something. It’s off topic here.
  • Readers: please only email if you are personally interested in the job.

If your comment isn’t relevant or smells fishy, I’ll delete it. If you have questions about why your comment got deleted, or how to maximize the effectiveness of your comment, contact me.

Each month, I publish a new post in the Who’s Hiring category here so y’all can get the latest opportunities.

California Department of Human Resources is hiring 2 MS SQL developer/DBAs. We are a very small shop that develops and manages the State’s hiring platform, calcareers.ca.gov. We are moving to expand our analytics infrastructure. I’m the data lead for the organization and pretty much the only one doing the work currently (the only dba in the organization). CalHR is a great place to work and located in Sacramento, California. Though telework is possible, we need people to live within driving distance of Sacramento.

We hire from the pool of people who take and pass an online training and experience exam. Once on the list you apply to jobs offered by the State for the classification you tested in. We are hiring for Information Technology Specialist I. You can find the exam information and the job information at the following link:

    • Hello Gary, I tried applying to this job, but it required of me to put in a State. I live outside the US, and you mention the job can also be a 100% remote position. Does this apply only for people living in the US? Would be happy to be able to apply and engage in a further conversation.

The Lake County Florida Clerk of Courts & Comptroller is hiring a Database Administrator to add to our DBA team. This position is ONSITE, and we are located northwest of Orlando in Tavares, FL. Under the direction of the Operations Manager, is responsible for administering databases, maintaining physical and virtual servers, and maintaining enterprise applications. This position has responsibility for designing and controlling the use of Clerk data resources, ensuring database security, integrity, availability, recoverability, and performance.

We are looking for intelligent people who want to make a difference by supporting the county’s citizens. Pay is based on experience. More information and how to apply can be found at https://www.lakecountyclerk.org/employment/default.aspx. You can also email EmploymentOpportunities@lakecountyclerk.org.

  • While all this kind people posted job offerings available at their companies, I’d love to know if any of these companies would go though the trouble of sponsoring a foreign citizen for a work us visa. I’d like to get a change to get through all the automated screenings and a have chat with a real human representative, to tell them more about me.
If anybody wants to get it touch with me, I will just leave my linkedin profile:

    • Your best bet would be applying for positions at very large global companies with in-house attorneys. The cost and time delay of work visas is beyond what small to midsize companies are willing to do for strangers. Hope that helps.

      • It sure does, appreciate it! At first I was aiming for smaller companies, thinking it’d be easier to get it touch will, but I’ll try the other way for a while.
