You’re a production database administrator responsible for the health, security, and uptime of many database servers.
You’ve been pointing and clicking your way through SSMS for years, scripting out T-SQL to files, but… when you need to do the same task repeatedly across several servers, it’s a bit of a pain.
You’ve told yourself someday you’d learn PowerShell to do repeatable, reliable automation.
That time is March, and it’s gonna be free!
All March long, I’m giving away our newest class, Fundamentals of PowerShell for DBAs. Block out a half-hour per weekday on your calendar now because on each weekday in March, a different video will be live – but just for one day only! You gotta keep up if you wanna learn for free. (I’ll be making the videos public manually, so it won’t be at an exact time – just rest assured that if you log in at the same time every day, you’ll always have a fresh video to watch. If you log in at different times each day, well … you might not. Sorry about that.)
Here’s what you’ll be learning:
- March 1, Weds: What’s PowerShell?
- March 2, Thurs: Using Variables
- March 3, Fri: Using CMDLETs and the Pipeline and Demos
- March 6, Mon: CMDLETs: Aliasing and the Pipeline and Demos

Looking forward to it, thank you ?
Looking forward to it, thank you ?
That’s great! Surely I will enjoy this. Thanks
Looking forward to it exiting
Looking forward to it.
Thankyou, looking forward.
This is exciting! I’ve made powershell scripts for some stuff in SQL Server, but it’s definitely something I’m competent in, I just figured it out as I went along. This will be great watch a course that starts from the basics 🙂
EDIT: definitely something I’m *not* competent in 😀
That is good, what time is the class goes?
Well, bad news, Ibsa – this course is targeted at folks who can read.
Given that the information you wanted was in the blog post above, that means you’re unable to read – and thus not eligible for the course.
Ironically, you may not even be able to read these very words! Such a tragedy.
I almost asked the same question, but I know I can read, so then I realized it was my reading comprehension that was lacking! What is one to do? I called up my 4th grade English teacher for a quick refresher then re-read your blog post again. Looking forward to the videos!
What time of day will the live sessions that place?
Look forward, hopefully put it all together.
They’re not live – they’re recorded. Cheers!
LOL, I can’t read either. I just overlooked the details
Is that your caricature in the blog? Or should I expect someone else to be a trainer?
Nevermind. I think he is Drew Furgiuele.
Have you met him? He’s mediocre at best.
Looking forward to do it, Thank you!!
The preview looks good.
It’s very much Drew’s course and he doesn’t have Brent’s fancy dance mic no silly voices so far (delivered deadpan) and he uses the adventure works DB but the quality looks very good.
I associate Brent with high-quality courses so if the platform diversifies into associated technologies I’ll know where to go to improve my skill set.
Thanks Brent, Power BI next? 🙂
[Just putting my flame-retardant underwear on]
Heh heh heh, no, definitely not Power BI. I would steer folks towards the Guy in a Cube YouTube channel for that one – their production quality is fantastic, and it’s free!
Thanks
That’s great! Surely I will enjoy this. Thanks
I am looking forward to it. Thank you!
That is a good opportunity for me to learn it
Thanks for this golden opportunity Brent. I appreciate it so much.
Good afternoon Brnet – I’m logged on and enjoying the course – great presenter and very clearly explained.
One question.. ‘Download the slide decks and helper files’ is still locked. I assume this is intentional, but I wanted to check… Will it inhibit our ability to perform any of the labs etc?
Thanks again, and so far seems really good. Regards, G (Cambridge, UK)
Brent^ obviously need more caffeine…
Reread the above blog post really slowly, chief – only after you’ve had more caffeine, though. Cheers!
does the ubuntu Terminal work with PowerShell?
