Who’s Hiring in the Database Community? March 2022 Edition

Who's Hiring
15 Comments

Is your company hiring for a database position as of March 2022? Do you wanna work with the kinds of people who read this blog? Let’s set up some rapid networking here. If your company is hiring, leave a comment.

The rules:

  • Your comment must include the job title, and either a link to the full job description, or the text of it. It doesn’t have to be a SQL Server DBA job, but it does have to be related to databases. (We get a pretty broad readership here – it can be any database.)
  • An email address to send resumes, or a link to the application process – if I were you, I’d put an email address because you may want to know that applicants are readers here, because they might be more qualified than the applicants you regularly get.
  • Please state the location and include REMOTE and/or VISA when that sort of candidate is welcome. When remote work is not an option, include ONSITE.
  • Please only post if you personally are part of the hiring company—no recruiting firms or job boards. Only one post per company. If it isn’t a household name, please explain what your company does.
  • Commenters: please don’t reply to job posts to complain about something. It’s off topic here.
  • Readers: please only email if you are personally interested in the job.

If your comment isn’t relevant or smells fishy, I’ll delete it. If you have questions about why your comment got deleted, or how to maximize the effectiveness of your comment, contact me.

Each month, I publish a new post in the Who’s Hiring category here so y’all can get the latest opportunities.

If you want to be notified as people leave new jobs here, there’s a “subscribe without commenting” option where you leave a comment. I don’t use that for subscribing you to anything else.

  • Stack Overflow (maybe you’ve heard of us?) is hiring REMOTE Data Engineers. We are able to hire from a number of countries in the Americas & Europe–the list of countries is at the very end, so read to the end if you’re interested.

This is NOT a DBA job to support the public-facing Q&A website/database at Stack Overflow. The Data Platform team at Stack Overflow builds and maintains the data processing and analytic pipelines that democratize access to data across our organization. Your cross-functional team will optimize flow and collection of all of our product and business data, enabling data at scale for Stack Overflow.

We strongly believe that diversity of experience contributes to a broader collective perspective that will consistently lead to a better company and better products. We are working hard to increase the diversity of our team wherever we can and we actively encourage everyone to consider becoming a part of it.

Full job description & application are available here:
    https://stackoverflow.co/company/work-here/3289364

This team is fully remote, so you can live & work from any country on this list–but only countries on this list.
United States, Canada, Mexico, Chile, Argentina, Brazil, UK, Ireland, Germany, Sweden, Norway, Poland, Spain, Austria, Slovenia, Czech Republic, Portugal, Netherlands, Switzerland

    • Andrew, I apologize as I suspect this is going to sound hyper-critical. Please know that, I’m really just trying to help.

Most of the job listings on your website are in the form of one giant unreadable, un-formatted block of text. In all candor, I looked at the job listing for less than 1 second before abandoning it.

When I see a block of text like that, I immediately think “if they don’t care enough to format a job description (when they should be trying to put their best foot forward), how much will they care after the person is hired?”

Again – I apologize if this came across in any way other than me trying to offer a little bit of help – so you can land the best co-worker possible.

    Team
The Team is responsible for building and maintaining critical elements of our system architecture including, Client Reporting, Client Portal, Performance Engine and Portfolio Management system.

Our Data Estate is also growing with increasing importance to every area of the business and there is a fantastic opportunity to develop this even further.

    • We use SQL Server 2017 for all our relational stores.
    • We have a couple of smaller non-relational stores and use CosmosDB/Mongo for those.
    • Our current architecture for our two core systems is
o Production 2 Node Failover Cluster Instance
    o Staging/Dev On Separate servers.
o Log shipped single node DR instance.
