Promoting Causes on Twitter
Twitter can help you get the word out about a cause, and it doesn’t cost anything. The trouble is that you’re up against a whole lot of other people who are also trying to get the word out – sometimes about their causes, sometimes about a business, and sometimes it’s just spam. If you’re going to succeed, you have to know what you’re up against.
One free way is to build a Twibbon – an image that your friends can overlay on top of their Twitter profiles to show that they support your cause. Twibbons can range from the serious to the humorous, like Kanye West speaking over your picture. The problem with Twibbons by themselves is that they don’t support a “call to action” – people can’t click on the Twibbon to learn more or to donate to your cause.
