Who’s Hiring in the Microsoft Database Community? July 2025 Edition
Is your company hiring for a database position as of July 2025? Do you wanna work with the kinds of people who read this blog? Let’s make a love connection.
If your company is hiring, leave a comment. The rules:
- Your comment must include the job title, and either a link to the full job description, or the text of it. It doesn’t have to be a SQL Server DBA job, but it does have to be related to databases. (We get a pretty broad readership here – it can be any database.)
- An email address to send resumes, or a link to the application process – if I were you, I’d put an email address because you may want to know that applicants are readers here, because they might be more qualified than the applicants you regularly get.
- Please state the location and include REMOTE and/or VISA when that sort of candidate is welcome. When remote work is not an option, include ONSITE.
- Please only post if you personally are part of the hiring company—no recruiting firms or job boards. Only one post per company. If it isn’t a household name, please explain what your company does.
- Commenters: please don’t reply to job posts to complain about something. It’s off topic here.
- Readers: please only email if you are personally interested in the job.
If your comment isn’t relevant or smells fishy, I’ll delete it. If you have questions about why your comment got deleted, or how to maximize the effectiveness of your comment, contact me.
Each month, I publish a new post in the Who’s Hiring category here so y’all can get the latest opportunities.

Hi,
I’m looking for a job as a junior DB engineer in Jacksonville, FL
Anton, I’m going to be brutally honest: if you can’t read a blog post and follow the instructions, you don’t have great prospects for a tech career, but best of luck on your journey.
I have 6 years of direct solo database development including SQL commands. I’m looking for employment. I have a 40 year disability, but gained my BS with Honors.
Brent, I am a bit older than you. Let me assure you that the more you age, the less tolerance you have for people not reading instructions.
Ayup. And people think this is going to look GOOD to folks doing the hiring? “Hi, my name is X, and I don’t follow short, clear instructions…” (shakes head)
In the Marine Corps, one of the last things you wanted to hear was “ooooh, [you] can’t follow simple f’n instructions” It meant that you missed something and misery was soon to follow. Some people heard it a lot more often than others…

This is a hybrid-remote (some days in-office) position in Salem, Oregon. This has a short runway, the position opened yesterday and closes on 7/9.
This is a great idea!
I joined Databricks recently and we’re constantly growing and hiring.
The field engineering group has tons of job openings that I think a strong DBA/DB Developer can do. The professional services side of the organization has tons of openings as well if you’re interested in a more post-sales role.
It’s a little bit of a shift from the traditional DB work but with Lakebase coming in the picture your skills won’t go to waste. I would highly recommend you brush up on Spark (the 5’s of Spark specifically), get a free account to practice using the platform, and brush up on your presenting skills. Bryan Cafferky has a great series on YouTube to help you upskill.
I hope this helps someone, thanks for starting this Brent!

I can’t personally refer anyone that I haven’t worked with directly; it won’t benefit anyone if I do it that way. If we’ve worked together in the past, including in the SQL PASS community (events, presentations, etc) I’m happy to send in a referral.
Ayman, out of curiosity do you use PySpark or is it more the Java side?
For me personally as a Solution Architect with a SQL background, no Java. I’m writing python or pyspark/SQL if I’m coding. And I’m also presenting, solving problems, selling solutions. There are folks on the team that work on the infrastructure side of things a little more (networking/platform – potentially working on the java side a bit). So depends on the role/team. I would say that since the tech stack is more limited then where I used to work (Microsoft) the majority opportunities are geared more towards data roles and more focused on one platform (Databricks obviously). I can’t tell you what the core engineering roles would do. Since the DBX VMs run on a java virtual machine, maybe those roles tend to be more on the java side.
Hope that helps.
