Who’s Hiring in the Microsoft Data Platform Community? March 2025 Edition

Who's Hiring
4 Comments

Is your company hiring for a database position as of March 2025? Do you wanna work with the kinds of people who read this blog? Let’s set up some rapid networking here.

If your company is hiring, leave a comment. The rules:

  • Your comment must include the job title, and either a link to the full job description, or the text of it. It doesn’t have to be a SQL Server DBA job, but it does have to be related to databases. (We get a pretty broad readership here – it can be any database.)
  • An email address to send resumes, or a link to the application process – if I were you, I’d put an email address because you may want to know that applicants are readers here, because they might be more qualified than the applicants you regularly get.
  • Please state the location and include REMOTE and/or VISA when that sort of candidate is welcome. When remote work is not an option, include ONSITE.
  • Please only post if you personally are part of the hiring company—no recruiting firms or job boards. Only one post per company. If it isn’t a household name, please explain what your company does.
  • Commenters: please don’t reply to job posts to complain about something. It’s off topic here.
  • Readers: please only email if you are personally interested in the job.

If your comment isn’t relevant or smells fishy, I’ll delete it. If you have questions about why your comment got deleted, or how to maximize the effectiveness of your comment, contact me.

Each month, I publish a new post in the Who’s Hiring category here so y’all can get the latest opportunities.

Experienced Oracle and SQL Server Database Administrator

Chugach Electric Association is an electric utility located in Anchorage Alaska. We are looking for an ONSITE experienced Oracle and SQL Server DBA to manage the business databases. This job is strictly on-site in Anchorage.

This job is involved in all aspects of Oracle and SQL Server database management, including but not limited to backup and recovery; installation; configuration; maintenance; patching; cross database communication; access management; optimizing; troubleshooting; advanced SQL; consultation on database issues.

While the position is always on-call, you are paid overtime when receiving calls outside your normal working hours. In recent months the DBA averaged about 3 off-hour phone calls per month.

The position has competitive wages and outstanding benefits. It is the perfect fit for a self-starter who wants a long-term relationship with a single employer.

Apply at https://jobs.connect-ats.com/chugachelectric; click on the “Database Administrator” button to get more information. Unfortunately, the job description is 25 years old and is currently being revised. If you have any questions at all, please contact me at brian_leach@chugachelectric.com. I am the DBA who will soon be retiring. I am here to answer questions, please do not send me resumes.

    How to apply:

Copy and paste these questions and your responses into an email:

    • Are you a US Citizen or otherwise legally allowed to work in the US for any employer?

    • Have you worked in a Consulting firm before, handling multiple clients at once?

    • Is Microsoft SQL Server Administration your primary area of expertise?

    • How many years of experience do you have supporting Microsoft SQL Server as a Primary job function?

Send email, including a PDF of your resume to: Resumes@DallasDBAs.com

    Just for fun:

This is what ChatGPT (Chad) had to say about working with Dallas DBAs:

At Dallas DBAs, we take SQL Server administration seriously—because our clients depend on us to keep their databases running smoothly. But between handling critical issues, optimizing performance, and keeping data highly available, we also believe in keeping things light.

We crack jokes, share memes, and keep the atmosphere relaxed in our Slack channel (because let’s face it, database outages are stressful enough). Expect to trade SQL insights one minute and discuss mountain biking or chickens the next.

Our work is a mix of proactive database tuning, troubleshooting urgent problems, and consulting for IT teams that don’t have a full-time DBA. Some days, you’re deep in a performance tuning session; other days, you’re helping a client recover from “that one time someone ran an UPDATE without a WHERE clause.”
We value flexibility, problem-solving, and a sense of humor. If you enjoy working in a team that takes database health seriously but doesn’t take itself too seriously, you’ll fit right in.
