There are 3 kinds of restores:
- One-off restores to fix an emergency
- Testing your backups
- Recurring, scheduled restores (like refreshing a dev server)
In this module, I’m going to focus on the most common one by far, the first one. I’ll talk about the gotchas of what happens when you need to restore a few rows or a table, a single database, multiple databases, system databases, or the entire server.

Hi There,
I’m not hundred percent sure to create an environment to mimic your lab.
Would you please provide me some hints or sample DBs or T-Scripts.
Thank you,
Edwin
I use the Stack Overflow database for all my demos.
Thanks!
Awesome! It’s a great experiance for me.
Thanks a lot, Erik
Brent, I notice that modules 2,3,4 all have a Mark as Complete button, but Module 1 doesn’t. That may be on purpose . . . but in case it’s just an omission.
Richard – thanks for the heads up! Fixed.
Ohhh no, vimeo is not fault tolerant, lol. Good thing most IT people have patience for the wickedness of technology and all of its sins.
Working fine here – may need to check your Internet connection or firewall. Thanks!
I am getting HTTP 503 Err, not a big deal for me, I can check later. 2 Diff Browsers as well. It may be something regional, no worries 🙂
Yep, check your firewall – working fine here across 2 ISPs and DownForEveryoneOrJustMe.
Must be regional, even on diff isp same err. You can kill this comment if you prefer since its not related. I will wait it out 🙂 Cheers
I scroll up and its back – facepalm
