Free Webcast: How to Think Like the SQL Server & Postgres Engines

You’re a developer or a DBA, and you’re comfortable writing queries to get the data you need. You’re much less comfortable trying to design the right indexes for your database server. In my new totally free How to Think Like the Engines class, you’ll learn how the SQL Server and Postgres database engines look at your indexes and build your query results.

You’ll learn:

  • The differences between nonclustered indexes and clustered indexes (and why Postgres doesn’t use clustered indexes at all)
  • Which kinds of indexes work better as a starting point for SQL Server, versus which ones work better for Postgres
  • The basics of execution plans on both platforms, and how to read them

I’m doing the webcast a couple of times so everyone can attend:

  • Oct 26 – Monday morning 6AM-9AM Pacific, 9AM-Noon Eastern, 13:00-16:00 GMT
  • Oct 29 – Thursday morning 6AM-9AM Pacific, 9AM-Noon Eastern, 13:00-16:00 GMT

Register to attend here. See you in class!
