Join Me at Day of Data Orlando Next Month
Next month on Saturday, October 17, I’ll be speaking at the free Day of Data Orlando. Registration is open now.
The event is 8AM-4PM at the Seminole State College Sanford/Lake Mary Campus at 100 Weldon Boulevard, Partnership Building, Sanford, FL 32773.
You can see the whole lineup here, with 5 tracks of 5 1-hour sessions each. I’m doing 2 sessions:
- Watch Brent Tune a Query in SQL Server 2025 – Ever wonder how somebody else does it? In this all-demo session, watch over Brent Ozar’s shoulder while he takes a slow stored procedure in the Stack Overflow database, analyzes it, and iterates over several improvements trying to make it go faster. He’ll explain his thought process as he goes, and get feedback from the audience on what they’d try as well.
- Panel Discussion: AI in Your Career: Sidekick, Hero, or Villain? In this panel discussion led by Brent Ozar, experienced data professionals share honest, real-world perspectives on how AI is changing careers for DBAs, analysts, engineers, and managers. Panelists will explain how they decide which tasks to delegate to AI, where human judgment still matters most, and how the impact of AI differs depending on seniority and responsibility. You’ll also hear how they spot early warning signs that a role is becoming overly automated—and what they do next when they see those signals. The panelists are Bob Ward, Cecilia Brusatori, Kevin Feasel, Rob Volk, and Tim Radney.
Register here free, and I’ll see you in Orlando!

Three posts a week, plus a Monday roundup of the best database news from around the web.
You should have some swag for sale on your site. I want to have you sign a baseball cap or coffee mug or something and display it on my desk at work!
I used to, but taxes, shipping, and returns were a giant pain in the rear.
Darn – Wrong weekend! I be with 220,000 others at Orlando Come Out With Pride! (hopefully I can squeeze in your morning session)
