It's time for our quarterly update of our SQL ConstantCare® population report, showing how quickly (or slowly) folks adopt new versions of SQL Server. There were only slight 1-2% shifts, nothing big:

SQL Server 2025: 1%
SQL Server 2022: 31%, up 2% from last quarter
SQL Server 2019: 42%, down 1%
SQL Server 2017: 9%, no change
SQL Server 2016: 9%, down 1%
SQL Server 2014 & prior: 6%, no change
Azure SQL DB and Managed Instances: 2%, no change

SQL ConstantCare® Population Report: Winter 2026

It's time for our quarterly update of our SQL ConstantCare® population report, showing how quickly (or slowly) folks adopt new versions of SQL Server. In short, people are replacing SQL Server 2016 and 2017 with 2022!

SQL Server 2025: 0% (but it's 10 servers)
SQL Server 2022: 29%, up from 25% last quarter
SQL Server 2019: 43%, no change
SQL Server 2017: 9%, was 10%
SQL Server 2016: 10%, was 13%
SQL Server 2014 & prior: 6%, no change
Azure SQL DB and Managed Instances: 2%, no change

SQL ConstantCare® Population Report: Fall 2025

In this quarter's update of our SQL ConstantCare® population report, showing how quickly (or slowly) folks adopt new versions of SQL Server, the data is very similar to last quarter:

SQL Server 2025: exactly 1 server being monitored, heh. God bless y'all for giving it a shot this early.
SQL Server 2022: 25%, up from 24% last quarter
SQL Server 2019: 43%, was 45%
SQL Server 2017: 10%, was 11%
SQL Server 2016: 13%, was 12%
SQL Server 2014: 5%, same as last quarter
SQL Server 2012 & prior: 1%, same
Azure SQL DB and Managed Instances: 2%, same

SQL ConstantCare® Population Report: Summer 2025

In this quarter's update of our SQL ConstantCare® population report, showing how quickly (or slowly) folks adopt new versions of SQL Server, the data is very similar to last quarter. SQL Server 2019 still rules the market:

SQL Server 2022: 24%, up from 21% last quarter
SQL Server 2019: 45%, was 44%
SQL Server 2017: 11%, was 12%
SQL Server 2016: 12%, was 15%
SQL Server 2014: 5%, was 4%
SQL Server 2012 & prior: 1%, same
Azure SQL DB and Managed Instances: 2%, same

SQL ConstantCare® Population Report: Winter 2025

Every quarter, we publish adoption rate data showing how quickly people are adopting new versions of SQL Server. Today it's time for the winter 2025 version of our SQL ConstantCare® population report.

SQL Server 2022 is finally seeing some good adoption with about 21% of the market. It's gradually taking market share from all other versions, including 2019, but 2019 still dominates with 44% of the market:
