SQL Server

SSMS is the standard tool for working with SQL Server databases. It does the job well. But if you’re using the default settings, you’re missing out! You can enable word wrap and number the lines. Change the settings when you script objects out. Filter through objects. Let Jes guide you through the world of hidden SSMS settings!

Watch the video to learn more about Object Explorer, Options, secret weapons buttons, Projects, Templates, and Snippets! Have a question? Feel free to drop me a line!

Tip: this video’s got a lot of detailed demos, so try watching it full screen. While you’re watching that way, you can click the gears icon and see the video in high resolution (like 1080p).

  • There’s no Facebook or G+ option to promote the site and articles?

    • Hi Pete! Thanks, glad you like the site enough to promote it. We don’t have social media buttons on here at the moment – we’d tried them in the past and didn’t get much traction out of ’em. The site ended up looking like a colorful birthday cake, so we pulled ’em off. Thanks though!

  • Well worth the listen. That View>Object Exploer Details tip where you can multi click and create is amaaaaaaazingly good.

Someone mentioned at the end about color coding connections. I love that feature. I use green for anytime I’m connecting to a dev or my local instance. Bright RED for anytime I’m connected to a production instance. thanks fo the podcast.
