Verified Twitter Account
What Verified Accounts Mean
On some Twitter profiles you’ll see a checkmark and the words “Verified Account.” This means Twitter has verified that the person really is who they say they are.
This is especially important since anybody can sign up for a Twitter account and claim they’re somebody famous – and yes, people do. Obviously @TweetJeebus isn’t really Jesus, and @_StevieWonder is a joke about what blind people would tweet, but some other accounts aren’t as obvious.
