Creative Commons Licensing
When you want to lock down something so that you own it start to finish, you can copyright it. That gives you exclusive ownership of it and doesn’t let anybody else do much of anything with it.
If, on the other hand, you actually want people to do things with your work, you need a different kind of license. Creative Commons is like copyright, but it lets you assign specific rights to the public. I want to encourage people to distribute some of my work free of charge, so I use Creative Commons licensing for my Simple Twitter Book.

My Simple Twitter Book is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-No Derivative Works 3.0 United States License. That means:
- You’re free to copy, distribute, and transmit my work
- You must attribute my work in the manner specified by me (but not in any way that suggests that I endorse you or your use of my work)
- You may not use my work for commercial purposes without my express written permission
- You may not alter, transform, or build upon my work without my express written permission

How to Use My Text in Your Site
If you’d like to include a short summary of one of my articles in your site, please include a link back to the original post on my site, prominently disclose that I am the author, and do not use more than 25% of my post.
If you’d like to include more material than that, contact us and we’d be glad to discuss it with you. We’ve granted exclusions to some other sites.
If you find our blog posts on any other site, please email us.
If you’d like to automatically copy all of my new posts, please read my posts on plagiarism first. I know you think you’re helping the community by getting the word out about my material, but I don’t want my content copied without my permission ahead of time. Contact me first and I’d be glad to discuss it, but if I find my content copied, I won’t grant permission after the fact under any circumstances.
