It’s time to grow our consulting team!Brent_Ozar_Unlimited_Team_Goofy

We’re looking for a SQL Server Triage Specialist. This is a new position with a whole new job description: the position is as much about communicating with clients as it is about SQL Server.

I’d tell you about the job, but I’m really excited for you to read about it on our careers page.

There’s a link at the bottom of that page to apply. Head on over and get started!

Update: applications are now closed. Thanks everybody! We’ll make an announcement soon.

  • Hmmm – How remote is the remote position? I’m in a different continent and time zone – does that matter? I’d love to join the team – I’ll even get a tattoo!

Seriously though, good luck to all the applicants… we can’t wait to see the new member of Team Ozar!

  • Damn, I’d love to work for you guys, can I not remote in from the UK? I don’t have a tattoo as nowadays you’re more unique if you don’t have one. I’ll settle for the Senior DBA class in 2016. ;o)

  • So, what you’re really saying is that you want someone with a genetic defect…

    A programmer with a personality. *g*

Would be fun but having way too much fun now drinking from the fire hose currently.

And, for those who’ve never worked remotely (currently 11 years and counting) it is pretty neat -but- you do need a bit of discipline, passion large enough to draw you to your desk when there are other matters.

And then there’s the flip side to the above – stay focused and in your down time keep after your skill set. So, look out for squirrels!. If you’re like me with ADD then exercise and get some drugs (only as needed naturally *s*) to help stay focused.

And, for the married fellows there is this issue of getting your wifey to start talking -after- she rounds the corner of your office door. Not married? Get a dog – great companions except when they poop on the floor.

And, as ANdy said – Seriously.. Folks if you really do love what you do I can’t think of another group (on the face of it (I’m sure they have their Database Dungeon as well *g*) than these folks.

Oh, right, one last thing to remember – EVERYONE is your client and your job is to serve them with humility and professionalism.

  • Do you take into consideration previous applicants? or should we reapply?

    • In the past, we’ve been hiring for much more senior positions. This position is for junior DBAs. If you applied previously, you might have been wildly underqualified for the previous positions – in which case, this one might be perfect! However, if you felt like you were a good fit for the previous positions, you’re probably not a good fit for this one. (I’m writing this without any idea of who you are – I’m purposely not looking at your profile or anything.)

      • Yeah, I would fall in the Junior DBA category and underqualified for the Senior positions, I applied for experience. Just checking to see if you keep previous applicants on file and would take them into consideration. Thanks

  • Triage sounds as a medical joke, but it is a remote position why you need to authorization for work in US ? And.. yes would be nice to apply.

    • Ricardo – it’s much easier for us as a small company if our employees are legally authorized to work for us here. Thanks!
