Upcoming SQL Server Training Events

You could use a little training.  Lucky for you, I know just where you can get it.

May 20 – BLITZ! 60 Minute Server Takeovers

In my session at the 24 Hours of PASS, I’ll show you how to take over a server you’ve never seen before and quickly figure out how it’s doing.  The session is all demos from start to finish – just you, me, and a server full of land mines.

There’s a lot more great sessions too!  PASS has picked some of the best speakers out there to give their best stuff.  Check out the full list of sessions, and they’re all free!

May 27 – SQL Server for the Oracle DBA

Kevin Kline and Buck Woody have something in common: a dark past on the other side.  If you know an Oracle DBA, invite them to this free webcast to learn how it works here in the point-and-click world.

Frankly, I’d watch this even if you’re not an Oracle DBA, because these two guys are funny no matter what they’re presenting!

June 9 – Top 10 Developer Mistakes that Won’t Scale

I'm watching you, Darmadi

I'm watching you, Darmadi

At TechEd in New Orleans, session DAT316 will tell you all about the things that work great on your machine, but they fall over when you try to push real load at ‘em.  This session is for developers and DBAs alike, and I’ll cover alternatives that will get the job done without killing your server.  Unfortunately, this won’t be webcast.

The session catalog says I’m copresenting with Darmadi Komo, which is news to me.  If he tries to steal any of my thunder, I’m going to give him a hulk hand to the man-parts.  You wouldn’t like me when I’m angry.

I’ll also be at the TechEd cocktail reception in the Quest booth on Monday night, and at the TechEd Influencer Party on Tuesday night.  Rumor has it Quest is putting on an event too – stay tuned.

June 17 – Easy Ways to Fix Hard Problems

Grant Fritchey and Kevin Kline are doing this Quest Pain of the Week explaining straightforward methods for troubleshooting, reading execution plans, and building indexes.  Register for the free webcast.

June 21 – SQL Server Day in Munich, Germany

I’m hitting the road!  First stop: Monday in Munich, where I’ll be doing two sessions.

SQL Server Storage – I’ll talk about how to use filegroups, files, and partitioning to achieve more scalability and faster recovery.

Check out the Munich agenda and location here.

June 22 – SQL Server Day in Cologne, Germany

Next stop – all Brent Ozar, all day long.  I’ll be doing a few sessions – SQL Server Performance Tuning for Race Car Drivers, Virtualization & SAN Basics for DBAs, and the Top 10 Developer Mistakes That Won’t Scale.  I don’t have a registration link for this one yet, but if you email your Quest salesperson, they’ll be able to hook you up.  It’s likely to be a limited-space event, so ask ‘em quick!

June 26 – SQLSaturday Columbus OH

I’ve submitted a few sessions, and we’ll see what they pick.  If you’re considering attending, register today.  It’s free, so do it now, because these events do fill up.

June 30 – Virtualization and Magicians

I’m presenting remotely to the Edmonton PASS Chapter, home of famed funny man Colin Stasiuk (Blog@BenchmarkIT), to explain how you can successfully saw servers in half.

You can register to attend live in Edmonton, or attend in LiveMeeting at 7PM Eastern, 6PM Central.

July 31 – SQLSaturday South Florida

I’ve submitted a few sessions, and we’ll see what they pick.  If you’re considering attending, register today.  It’s free, so do it now, because these events do fill up.

August 2 – SQLCruise 2010

We’re about half full, and I’ve heard from several people that they’re in the process of getting things approved.  If you’re considering going, don’t dilly-dally – the cheap rooms are selling out.  Inside rooms are now up to $449 per person.  Every day you wait makes this more expensive.  Go check out the training, check out the cruise prices, and then make your move!
